PURPOSE: Compensation item service providing method and server in an online game are provided to promote participation of a user in a game by directly participating in event application while obtaining a compensation item of an online game. CONSTITUTION: A game operating server detects online game completion of a user terminal and provides a compensation item selection menu to the user terminal (S11). At least one compensation item is selected in the plurality of compensation items in the compensation item selection menu from the user terminal (S12). Whether the compensation item selected from the user terminal is capable of applying an event or not is judged (S13). If the compensation item selected from the user terminal is capable of applying an event, a selection menu selecting for event application is provided to the user terminal (S14).
