An image processing apparatus generates a positioning image from images of the object of interest captured with a single camera from arbitrary directions, without using other apparatuses such as a rotating table upon which the object of interest is to be mounted, orand an acceleration sensor. A geometric transformation method determining means (16) calculates parameters of a prescribed geometric transformation formula for each of images to be transformed, on the basis of a first reference point determined by a first reference point projection means (13), and a second reference point determinedset by a second reference point projectionsetting means (15). A geometric transformation means (17) geometrically transforms the images to be transformed, using a geometric transformation formula that has hadbased on the parameters calculated by the geometric transformation method determining means (16) applied thereto.
