PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injector for use in a fuel system of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: The fuel injector includes a supply passage 24 for high pressure fuel, and an injection nozzle. The injection nozzle includes a valve needle 26 engageable with a valve needle seat so as to control fuel delivery from the fuel injector. A first control valve 48 is provided for controlling fuel pressure in a control chamber 42 so as to control the valve needle 26. The fuel injector further includes a second control valve 78 for controlling fuel pressure in a low pressure drain 21. The control valve 78 is provided for controlling fuel pressure in the low pressure drain 21. |
