PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio terminal device and a communication control method that can reduce power consumption while preventing a decline in convenience.SOLUTION: A smart phone 1 comprises: a communication processing unit 61B for performing wireless communication on a WiMAX network; a communication processing unit 61A for communicating with an external device; a touch screen display 2; and a controller 10 which will stop the communication processing unit 61B from searching for the WiMAX if the touch screen display 2 is turned off and communication with the external device by the communication processing unit 61A is cut off in a state in which the WiMAX is searched for.
