PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical unit with high reliability and high yield, in which a plurality of light emitting elements or light receiving elements are installed in a ceramic package.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an optical unit having an optical module in which a plurality of light receiving/emitting elements are installed in a ceramic package, comprises the steps of: contacting two side parts among side parts of the ceramic package with two contacting parts of a jig for manufacturing respectively; installing the plurality of light receiving/emitting elements on a predetermined region of the ceramic package in reference to the contacting parts of the jig for manufacturing; connecting the plurality of light receiving/emitting elements to a wiring part formed on the ceramic package by bonding wire. In the step for installing the plurality of light receiving/emitting elements, one of the plurality of light receiving/emitting elements is installed between either of two contacting parts and another one of the plurality of light receiving/emitting elements, thereby the problems are solved.
