PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an encoding compressibility of PARCOR (partial autocorrelation) coefficients obtained by a linear prediction analysis of time-series signals.SOLUTION: The encoding method includes: when an absolute value of a primary PARCOR coefficient becomes a predetermined threshold or more, selecting a first variable-length coding method as an encoding method for generating a code corresponding to a secondary PARCOR coefficient; when the absolute value of the primary PARCOR coefficient becomes less than the threshold, selecting a second variable-length coding method that is different from the first variable-length coding method as the encoding method for generating a code corresponding to the secondary PARCOR coefficient; and encoding a secondary quantized PARCOR coefficient obtained by quantizing the secondary PARCOR coefficient, using the selected encoding method, and generating the code corresponding to the secondary PARCOR.
