<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce erroneous detection and non-detection even when a vehicle has a large amount of metal, has a small amount of metal and has no metal by achieving high vehicle detecting performance by using the combination of a magnetic type vehicle detection device and an image type vehicle detection device. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle detection system 20 includes: a magnetic type vehicle detection device 21 using a loop coil 17 or the like and an image type vehicle detection device 22 using an image pickup device 16, and one of the magnetic type vehicle detection device or the image type vehicle detection device is configured as a high order detection device whose detecting operation is given priority, and the other device is configured as a low order detection device whose detecting operation is performed afterwards. The detecting configuration of the high order detection device is two-step detecting configuration consisting of upper detecting configuration in which first thresholds (A, A') for detection whose numerical values are high are set and lower detecting configuration in which second thresholds (B, B') for detection whose numerical values are low are set. In the low order detection device, third thresholds (C, C') for detection are set to compensate for the defectiveness of the detection of the second thresholds for detection in the lower detecting configuration of the high order detection device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
