PURPOSE: A developing device and a control method thereof are provided to easily change a duty ratio by preventing a large current from flowing in the switch in the change of the duty ratio. CONSTITUTION: A transformer(83) produces an AC voltage which is supplied to a developing roller(11). A switching unit(81) conducts and interrupts the transformer. An output controller(80) gradually changes a duty ratio several times if the duty ratio is changed from a first duty ratio to a second duty ratio by the switching unit. One end of a condenser(82) is connected to the transformer. The other end of the condenser is connected to the switching unit.
