PURPOSE: An electronic valve controlling apparatus and a controlling method thereof are provided to close an electronic valve when an external normal power is supplied, or to open the electro valve which is operated in case of a power outage. CONSTITUTION: An electronic valve controlling apparatus comprises a capacitor (110), a power direction switching circuit(120), and an electronic valve(130). The capacitor is charged with electricity in case external power is supplied to a refrigerator, or discharged with electricity in case the external power is not supplied to the refrigerator. The power direction switching circuit outputs power in a first direction in case external power is supplied to a refrigerator, or in a second direction in case the external power is not supplied to the refrigerator. The electronic valve is closed in case the direction of power is the first direction, or opened in case the direction of poser is the second direction.
