PURPOSE: A device of a portable terminal based on a user using a grip sensor and a method thereof are provided to improve user convenience by displaying interested icons of the user. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(801) senses the connected location of a user. A display unit(803) displays one or more icons set by a user according to a location in which the touch is sensed. One or more sensor units are included in the portable terminal. The one or more sensor units sense the touched point of the user. The sensor unit is included in one or more sides of the portable terminal.
