PURPOSE: A composition containing a Chrysanthemum zawadskii extract for preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases is provided to suppress damages to vascular endothelial cells, and to promote recovery of damaged endothelial cells. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases contains 0.1-50wt% of Chrysanthemum zawadskii extract based on a solid. The composition activates proliferation of vascular endothelial cells, and promotes recovery vascular endothelial cells. The extract is prepared from dried Chrysanthemum zawadskii with water or C1-C4 alcohol. The C1-C4 alcohol is ethanol. The extract enhances expression of one or more genes among SOD-2, SOD-3, and GPX-4.
