PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high-quality coffee beans. SOLUTION: This apparatus for roasting coffee beans has the following structure: a roasting vessel 2 is constructed in upper and lower two tiers by setting an upper roasting grinding chamber 11 with an exhaust port 14 at the top nearly right above the top opening 3a of a semicylindrical lower roasting grinding chamber 3 made of ceramic mineral and provided with hot air through holes 4 nearly over the whole circumference, an agitating element 6 with agitating blades 8 for agitating coffee beans is set inside the lower roasting grinding chamber 3, and burners 19 are set nearly right under the roasting vessel 2.
