<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable detection of the height of an obstacle while suppressing an increase in cost. <P>SOLUTION: An arithmetic logical unit 4 determines whether an amplitude value exceeds a threshold and, when the amplitude value exceeds the threshold, causes a timer 41 to stop time counting so as to calculate a distance L1 from a lapsed time counted by the timer 41. The arithmetic logical unit 4 obtains respective differences between an amplitude value corresponding to the distance L1 and that amplitude value in properties of distance and power of reflection waves (continuous line A1, dashed line B1 and double dashed line C1). A property corresponding to a difference which is within a prescribed range, being the smallest among the three types of differences is selected and the height (type) of an obstacle is estimated on the basis of the selected property. Thus, estimation means (the arithmetic logical unit 4) estimates the height of an obstacle from a distance calculated by the arithmetic logical unit 4 and a power measured (wave detection) by measurement means (a wave detection part 31), enabling detection of the height of an obstacle while suppressing an increase in cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
