<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine automatic stop controller capable of preventing deterioration of maneuverability of a vehicle at an intersection. <P>SOLUTION: The engine automatic stop controller performs an engine stop at deceleration for automatically stop an engine on condition that the vehicle speed has reduced to a first determination value A larger than zero (S130 to S150, S210 to S230), and, in a monitor target period until the vehicle speed is lower than a second deceleration determination value B larger than the first deceleration determination value A and then becomes the first deceleration determination value A, prohibits performance of the engine stop at deceleration (S120:YES) upon determining that a driver of the vehicle has conducted a steering operation. Further, if the vehicle speed increases to the second deceleration determination value B or more in the prohibition state, the controller releases the prohibition state (S175:YES →S110).
