The method involves accessing a database so that information concerning different possible ratings for banknote (1) is stored. The picture of the banknote is taken with a camera (6) of portable data-processing system (5). The database on data-processing system is accessed using the recorded image of the banknote with respect to an identified nominal value. The banknote containing superimposed image representation is shown on a screen (7) of data-processing system based on the identified denomination of banknote. An independent claim is included for computer program product for assisting user during authenticity verification of banknote.
