The method involves transporting the flat product on flow paths along spaced apart input conveyors (fo,fu) at same input speeds (V1o, V1u). The flat product is continuously transported on upper flow path (1o) and lower flow path (1u) assigned to input conveyors, to adjustable length conveyor belts (2o,2u). The flat product on the conveyor belts is conveyed to transfer conveyor belts (3o,3u) within respective time windows. The flat products from transfer conveyor belts are delivered alternately to the main conveyor so as to form an overall flow path (8). An independent claim is included for a device for continuously combining two overlapping flow paths of flat products on main conveyor.
