PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant for wet type wire drawing, and a wet type wire drawing method in which, during the drawing for manufacturing a high-strength steel wire, the wire is hardly broken and has excellent ductility, and its ductility is less degraded even when the wire is subjected to the stranding or the like. SOLUTION: The lubricant for wet type wire drawing which is used for performing the wet type drawing of a brass-plated steel wire contains phosphazene derivative compound, which is preferably a ring compound or a chain compound. The lubricant for wet type wire drawing is added to water to form aqueous solution, and the brass-plated steel wire is subjected to the wet type wire drawing in the aqueous solution.
