<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which: a common method of cooling a periphery of a photoreceptor is cooling an intermediate transfer belt by convection by wind; however, convection by wind requires formation of an air channel on the periphery of the transfer belt, which may cause dust to come from the outside of an apparatus to be adhered to the intermediate transfer belt, and resulting in image defects, or may blow off toner adhered to the transfer belt to cause scattering of toner. <P>SOLUTION: A transfer belt faces at least one sheet metal of a housing in a non-contact state, and a mechanism for cooling the facing sheet metal is provided. Accordingly, the transfer belt is cooled by heat radiation without causing problems of dust or scattering of toner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
