<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set opacity curves suitable for the observation of a luminal organ at a position for every view point when generating a virtual endoscopic image from a three-dimensional image expressing the luminal organ. <P>SOLUTION: A region specifying part 13 acquires the visual field range VR of a virtual endoscopic image, based on previously set view point VP, direction of observation DO, and visual field angle VA in a three-dimensional image V, and specifies the lumen region LR and wall region WR of a bronchus within the visual field range VR. An opacity curve setting part 14 obtains a pixel value section to be a boundary between the range of a pixel value in the lumen region LR and the range of a pixel value in the wall region WR, based on pixel value information in the lumen region LR and pixel value information in the wall region WR, and sets an opacity curve C so as to allow the value of opacity to change from "0" to "1" in the pixel value section.
