<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent vibration generated in a suction force generation source from affecting liquid discharge. <P>SOLUTION: A suction mechanism 130 is provided between a precoating head 10 and an ink jet head 11 held on a sub-carriage 100. The suction mechanism 130 has a fixed-side duct 131, a movable-side duct 132, and a suction unit 133 (suction force generation source). The fixed-side duct 131 and movable-side duct 132 are connected to each other. The suction unit 133 sucks mist through the fixed-side duct 131 and movable-side duct 132. The fixed-side duct 131 and suction unit 133 are held on a main carriage 120. The movable-side duct 132 is held on the sub-carriage 100.
