PURPOSE: A sample chamber for observing the deformation of rock is provided to freely control a pressure condition, a temperature condition, and a pH condition, thereby enabling to simulate various conditions of an underground environment. CONSTITUTION: A sample chamber for observing the deformation of rock comprises a body(10), a cover plate, a pressing bar(30), a load cell(40), and a stopper(50). A receiving unit for receiving a rock sample(s) is formed inside the body. The cover plate, which is joined to the top surface of the receiving unit, closes the receiving unit. The pressing bar is in contact with the rock sample, thereby pressing the rock sample in a horizontal direction. The rock cell is interposed between the load cell and the pressing bar. The load cell supports the rock sample and measures the pressure added on the pressing bar. The stopper is installed in the body to be reciprocated along a moving direction of the pressing bar. The stopper restrains the pressing bar from being moved in a direction becoming apart from the rock sample.
