A blade pile has a shaft, with a digging point or formation at a lower end of the shaft, and has at least one pair of diametrically-opposed blades, 5 having opposite pitch to each other. Each blade has a substantially planar body with aligned leading and trailing edges separated by a recess to receive the shaft to enable the blade to be secured thereto.
