IMAGE STABILIZATION METHOD, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stabilization control of image density frequently in a short period without causing a decrease in image productivity and an increase in toner consumption.

SOLUTION: An image stabilization method performed in a tandem-type color image forming apparatus 100 for forming a toner image on an intermediate transfer body 120 includes the steps of: detecting an amount of printing for every color; calculating an integrated value of the amount of printing for every color; forming fog of toner in one color that is predetermined and indicates the largest integrated value of the amount of printing on the intermediate transfer body at a predetermined timing; detecting the amount of the toner fog formed on the intermediate transfer body; and adjusting at least one of parameters that determines density of a toner image on the basis of the amount of the toner fog.
