The present invention relates to a metallic raceway ring member for a bearing unit comprising a radially projecting flange (115) provided on an outer circumferential surface; a positioning cylindrical portion (148) provided on an outer circumferential surface in a portion which lies at an axial end portion thereof projects further than an axial side of the flange (115); and a raceway surface (116a) on either of circumferential surfaces, wherein the positioning cylindrical portion (148) and the flange (115) are formed by plastic forming through cold pressing, and the positioning cylindrical portion (148) is formed into a stepped configuration having a small diameter portion (148a) which lies at an axial end side; a stepped portion (148b); and a large diameter portion (148c) which lies at a side thereof which faces the flange (115) are made to continue via the stepped portion (148b). Further, the present invention relates to a bearing unit with the inventive metallic raceway ring member (113a), an apparatus for manufacturing the inventive raceway ring member and a method for manufacturing the inventive raceway ring member using the apparatus for manufacturing the inventive raceway ring member.
