A central console for vehicles, comprising a first side wall running in the longitudinal direction of the central console and a second side wall which is opposite the first side wall and runs in the longitudinal direction of the central console, wherein the central console is constructed from a first half comprising the first side wall which is directly joined to a second half comprising the second side wall, and elements formed from the same material as each side wall project from each of the side walls in the direction of the other side wall in each case, said elements complementing one another in the joined state of the halves to form a functional element, wherein the first and second halves are each a thermoplastic foam casting. Furthermore, the present invention also relates to a method for the production of said central console. |
