<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress losing of a detail due to saturation of a high luminance portion in the case of performing shading correction. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an input unit 100 which receives an input of an image taken by an imaging device; a shading correction amount calculation unit 101 which calculates, for each pixel, a shading correction amount to apply to the image received from the input unit; a γ correction gain calculation unit 103 which calculates a γ correction gain in accordance with the pixel value and the shading correction value of a pixel of the imaging device; and a gain correction unit 104 which applies gain correction to the pixel value on the basis of the γ correction gain.
