<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor for an electric motor enabling easy positioning of magnets at intended positions while forming a flux barrier and a brushless motor using the rotor for an electric motor. <P>SOLUTION: A rotor for an electric motor having magnets 13 installed in slits includes end portion magnet regulation members 50 (50a, 50b) and intermediate magnet regulation members 60 (60a, 60b) which cover the slits from the axial direction of rotor cores 41 (41a, 41b, 41c). On main surfaces of the end portion magnet regulation members 50 (50a, 50b) and the intermediate magnet regulation members 60 (60a,60b), a pair of radial regulation pieces nipping the magnets 13 from both sides in the radial direction and regulating the radial movement of the magnets 13 in the slits are installed.
