PURPOSE: A composition containing a Triticum aestivum extract for preventing and treating obesity is provided to suppress neutral fat content in blood and to obtain a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food for treating obesity. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating obesity contains a Triticum aestivum extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using water, C1-C4 alcohols, or a mixture thereof. Triticum aestivum is prepared by germinating seeds of Triticum aestivum Lamarck, Triticum vulgare, Triticum durum, or Triticum compactum and cultivating for about 1-7 weeks. A health functional food for preventing and treating obesity contains the extract as an active ingredient.
