<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original size detection apparatus capable of detecting the size of an original quickly. <P>SOLUTION: The original size detection apparatus comprises: a light source which irradiates an original placed on an original table with light and scans in a first direction parallel to the surface of the original table; a read controller which issues an instruction to read image data in a determination range as a preset partial range of one line along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, the range being irradiated with the light from the light source; a reading unit for reading image data in the determination range indicated by the read controller, on the basis of the light incident to the determination range; and a size detector 153 which detects the size of the original on the basis of the image data in the determination range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
