<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer program for character recognition for reducing operation quantity while accurately recognizing a character string even when there exists an error in the recognition result of characters included in a character string on an image. <P>SOLUTION: A computer program for character recognition makes a computer execute steps of: detecting character sections on an image obtained by photographing a character string to search a candidate character lattice as a group of paths corresponding to the character sections; searching at least one candidate character for each path; detecting words which at least partially match the combination of candidate characters included in continuous paths in a candidate character lattice corrected such that mutually exclusive paths are not exclusive any more to add word paths denoting the positions of the words to the candidate character lattice; searching an evaluation value of the detected words; and estimating the combination of the words and candidate characters included in the array in which the total value of the evaluation values is the highest among the word paths continued in a row corresponding to the whole character string and the arrays of the paths as the character string on an image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
