<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device and an image reading method of the same for reducing power consumption and hardly causing a white jump phenomenon by lighting. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading device 100 comprises: an arm 102 that can be expanded and contracted in a direction for changing a distance between a photographing unit 101 and a manuscript mounting surface (a photographing surface); and a light source unit 105 provided at the arm 102 for diagonally illuminating the photographing surface. An MPU switches off an LED 105a that illuminates the outside of an illumination range as a [lights-out range 2] among LEDs 105a-105d provided side by side in a longitudinal direction of the arm 102. If the illuminance of the illumination range is equal to or more than a predetermined level, the MPU switches off the LED 105c and the LED 105d near the illumination range as a [lights-out range 1]. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
