An aircraft structural assembly incorporating means for removing boundary layer air therefrom comprises a pair of spaced sheet members parallel to one another and embodying passage means rendering said sheets pervious to the passage of air therethrough, a plurality of further members secured in fluid-tight relation to a surface of one of said sheets and providing tributary ducts, each having at least one nozzle adapted to meter the flow of air from the ducts and hence control the flow of boundary layer air through the said passage means. As applied to an aircraft wing, each wing panel comprises inner and outer assemblies 12 and 14 secured to stringers 16, 17, the assembly 14 comprising a conventional cellular core panel which forms one wall of main suction air ducts 18. The assembly 12 comprises a conventional cellular core panel 19 and inner and outer plate members 22 and 23. Rows of bores or passageways 24 are provided in panel 19 for the flow of air therethrough into tributary ducts 41 which may be individual or continuous as shown, and are formed with nozzles 43 which meter the air-flow into ducts 18. Strips 26 bonded to plate 23 are spaced to form chambers 27 which communicate with apertures 29 formed in an outer skin 28. By this means boundary layer air is drawn through apertures 29 and delivered through nozzles 43 to ducts 18 in metered quantities.
