The forceps (1,21) has gripper arms (2,22) with deflectable end portions (4,24), which are compressed against elastic force to grip object. The end portions have holding sections (6,7,26,27) connected with capacitors, for holding object between holding sections, when arms are pressed together. The electrodes (8,28) and electrodes (9,29) of capacitors are insulated with respect to holding sections. The electrodes are spaced apart from each other in longitudinal direction of gripper arms, such that the capacitance between electrodes depends on the distance between holding sections.
