A display device at least contains a light source, a display element, and an isotropic diffusion layer. Equations (1), (2), and (3) are satisfied. In the equations, theta0 represents the angle in which the light flux ratio is the greatest among the angles from which the light of the light source exits, theta1 represents the average progression angle until the light that entered into the display element at angle (theta0) reaches the isotropic diffusion layer, T represents the distance from an image formation surface to the boundary between a light diffusion member and the isotropic diffusion layer, n0 represents the refraction index of air, n1 represents the average refraction index between the image formation surface and the isotropic diffusion layer, P represents the pixel pitch, and P' represents the distance between the position where the ray of light among the rays of light from the edge of the pixel reaches perpendicular to the isotropic diffusion layer and the position where the ray of light reaches the isotropic diffusion layer at the progression angle (theta1). |
