PURPOSE: An optical disk recording device and a method thereof are provided to prevent a servo fail message from being unnecessarily transmitted to a host. CONSTITUTION: A servo unit performs servo operation through an interface with a host(200). A recording unit(15) records data on an optical disk(10). If a servo fail occurs during the recording operation, a control unit(17) confirms a current recording position of the optical disk. If the current recording position is a preset specific section of the optical disk, the control unit normally terminates the recording operation after ignoring the servo fail.
