<p>PURPOSE: A system restoring device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to supply convenience by easily restoring a system to a previous state after changing system settings. CONSTITUTION: A list writing unit(402) changes a system of a portable terminal, and a display unit(409) receives a specific command to display predetermined information. A restoring unit(403) selects one or more of the predetermined information, and restores the changed system to a previous state. The system change includes file deletion, application installation and deletion, bell sound changes, background changes, and setting item changes. The list writing unit writes an undo-list to which the system change is applied and stores information of the changed system with date and time information.
