A punching machine comprises a frame, a ram movable in the frame, a rocker pivoted to the frame, a thrust member connecting one arm of the rocker to the ram, said arm and the thrust member forming a toggle linkage, and an operating member linked to another arm of the rocker for applying a rocking movement thereto, the rocker and the thrust member being arranged so that the toggle linkage swings across the in-line position intermediately of the rocking movement of the rocker. The ram 1 is pivotally connected by a thrust arm 2 to the rocker 4 which is pivoted to the frame at 5. The arm 9 is pivoted at one end 8 to the rocker and at the other end is driven by an eccentric 10 mounted on a shaft 11. A brake disc and band-brake are associated with the shaft 11 which is belt-driven from an electric motor. When the eccentric rotates 180 degrees from the position shown in Fig. 1 the toggle linkage moves from 6 to 6<SP>1</SP>, the ram making a double reciprocation.</p> |
