A support arm system 1 for a load such as a display device. The system includes a support arm 4 rotatable at its proximal end about a mid-joint axis X". A monitor supporting head 5 at the distal end of the support arm 4 has an internal slider element and compression spring, and an arrangement of links and pivots which create a torque to oppose the torque created by a load on the head 5. This keeps a monitor plate 6 in the same viewing plane relative to the vertical as the arm 4 moves through its range of movement. The support head has a hoop element (13, Figure 6) defined by a portion of a circle which is slidable and rotatable relative to the support arm 4. The support arm 4 is attached to a base 2. |
