Provided is a gasket in which a gasket body is integrated with a resin-made carrier, in which the rigidity of the carrier is further increased to improve the handleability of the gasket, in which the thickness of the gasket is kept from being increased to ensure space-saving, and with which the yield of the resin material can be improved. The disclosed gasket has a planar shape and is used by being sandwiched between two components that are placed on top of one another, the gasket including: a gasket body that acts as a seal; and a carrier that retains the gasket body. The carrier is made of a resin material, is molded into a predetermined planar shape with a mold, and is formed into a stepped shape wherein: a portion of the carrier that overlaps the gasket body in a planar fashion constitutes a thin portion; and another portion of the carrier that does not overlap the gasket body in a planar fashion constitutes a thick portion. |
