The method involves the reaction of maleic <br/>anhydride and of an alkene, which contains 4 250 carbon <br/>atoms at 150 to 250 °C in the presence of a synergistic <br/>mixture consisting of a primary antioxidant, a peroxide <br/>decomposer and of a metal deactivator.<br/>
