PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily calculate an amount of light emitted during main imaging.

SOLUTION: A light emission amount determination device comprises: a photometric element; a reading unit which reads a first image signal by thinning and reading from the photometric element during preliminary light emission; and a light emission amount determination unit which determines an amount of light emitted during main imaging, on the basis of the first image signal and a second image signal read from the photometric element without emitting flash light. A program causes a computer to execute the steps of: reading the first image signal by thinning and reading from the photometric element during the preliminary light emission; and determining the amount of light emitted during the main imaging, on the basis of the first image signal and the second image signal read from the photometric element without emitting flash light.
