The method involves individually correcting a predetermined degree of efficiency (10) and/or predetermined lambda value (12) for two numbers of cylinders (15, 17). The correction process is carried out using a mean value (40) and/or a sum of the individual corrected efficiencies (28) and/or individual corrected lambda values (23) and/or using amount of the cylinders. The individual and/or common correction is carried using cylinder-individual efficiencies and/or cylinder-individual lambda values, where the correction is taken place if the combustion engine exits the lean operation.
