The crusher (1) has a thermal motor (5) for directly or indirectly driving a set of material supplying and treating tools e.g. roller (3) and crushing unit (4). A time delay unit has an optical barrier arranged between a lateral emitter (9) that emits a continuous optical beam (10), and a lateral optical receiver (11) to produce an output signal based on reception or non-reception of the emitted beam. An electronic motor mode management unit (12) sets idle mode when the beam is detected continuously after a defined time delay, and restores working mode during interruption of the beam.
