<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer capable of preventing occurrence of sticking even in a low-temperature environment and achieving high printing quality, and to provide a control program for the thermal printer. <P>SOLUTION: An environment temperature is detected. An application energy amount corresponding to the detected environment temperature is acquired from an application energy table, and similarly, a quiescent time period corresponding to the detected environment temperature is acquired from a quiescent time period setting table. Based on a total energizing time period with respect to each line obtained by excluding the quiescent time period corresponding to the environment temperature from a printing period predetermined with respect to each line, a preset chopping on/off ratio and the application energy amount corresponding to the environment temperature, non-chopping energizing time period and chopping energizing time period corresponding to the application energy amount are calculated, respectively.
