A band clamp comprises a length of strip material formed into a ring with apertured end portions 11a, llb overlapping and a looped spring closure element 20 with leg portions 22, 23 which extend through aligned apertures to extend in opposite directions longitudinally of the strip material, any. force tending to increase the diameter of the clamp tends to decrease the spacing between end portions of the loop. In a modification the clamp is made of a plurality of sections either each pair of overlapping end portions is secured by a spring closure element 20 or one pair is closed by a deformable closure element. A resilient control element 30 is inserted in the loop of the closure element. |
