Provided is an information recording/reproduction device for recording information on a recording medium, or for reproducing the information from the recording medium, said recording medium comprising a first guide layer having a track groove in a first spiral direction, a second guide layer having a track groove in a second spiral direction which is opposite to the first spiral direction, and multiple recording layers. This information recording/reproduction device has an optical system and a control unit for controlling the optical system. The control unit controls the optical system such that the recording/reproduction of the information is performed by using the first guide layer for at least one set of adjoining recording layers among the multiple recording layers, and by using the second guide layer for another set of adjoining recording layers among the multiple recording layers.
