The device has an amplification or attenuation element (2) that is adjusted with respect to its amplification or attenuation factor, and a downstream pulse modulator (3) that is controlled by a pulse signal. A downstream high-frequency detector (6) is provided for the measurement of a signal level of a pulsed high-frequency signal. A unit (9,10) is provided for linking the signal level of the pulsed high-frequency signal with signal level of the pulse signal for controlling the level controller.
