PURPOSE: A communication device and a communication method are to efficiently calculate power to transfer from a source and to prevent collision possibly occur when a target accesses a source by judging availability of a communication channel by using a status information signal of a communication channel between a target and a source. CONSTITUTION: A communication device in a wireless power transfer system includes a communication unit(210) transmitting a status information signal showing a channel occupation signal, an access standard command and operating mode of a source using a communication frequency of a communication channel after determining a communication channel in the other channels except for a channel used for wireless power transfer, a control unit(220) determining a control ID of a target when receiving a response signal corresponding to an access standard command from a target and a power transfer unit(230) wirelessly transmitting initial wireless power through magnetic coupling between a source resonator and a target resonator.
