Movement vertically of a shoe heel 2 relatively to a ski may be prevented when desired by engaging means on the ski binding in a channel 3 in the heel formed between plates 4, 5. The means on the ski may comprise a steel leaf blade or the like extending upwards and rearwards on the ski and such means may be engaged in a groove 6 on the underside of the shoe heel when it is desired that the heel shall be free.
