The method involves inserting a hollow profile (1) into a mold cavity of two-part forming tool. The hollow profile is filled completely with liquid medium over an opening. The opening is arranged in the hollow profile. A partial area of a non-closed hollow profile is formed by partial closing of the forming tool in a closing operation. The hollow profile is closed by introducing a mandrel in an open end section (2a,2b). The hollow profile is finally shaped by another closing process of the forming tool in section-wise manner. The mold cavity is provided in contact with the hollow profile during the both closing operations of the forming tool. A static loading of the hollow profile is held from the inside below the material yield strength of the hollow profile.
